Dengue Fever – डेंगू बुखार

Dengue is also called as Break Bone Fever.

Dengue fever is not directly spread from person-to-person.

There is no vaccine to prevent human infection by this virus.

Dengue virus is primarily transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes.

After biting an infected person it takes 8 to 12 days before the mosquito can infect other people.

The mosquito remains infectious for life (6-8 weeks).

Incubation Period – विकास काल –
संभवता ३ से १४ दिन,  सामान्यता ४ से ७ दिन
Ranges from 3 to 14 days, but most often it is 4 to 7 days.

Infection Duration –
डेंगू बुखार समान्य तौर पर सात दिनों में ठीक हो जाता है।
Generally it takes 7 days to recover from the illness

Symptoms –
बुखार, जुकाम, गले में दर्द, आंखों के पीछे दर्द महसूस होना इसके शुरूआती लक्षण होते हैं।
पूरे शरीर में लाल निशान (चकते) बन जाते हैं व मांसपेशियों में दर्द होता है।

Headache, fever, exhaustion, severe muscle and joint pain, swollen lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy), and rash.

Prevention – डेंगू से कैसे बचें

लोगों को पूरी बाजू के कपड़े पहनने चाहिए।
घर के आसपास साफ पानी जमा नहीं होने दे।
बाहर जाते समय मच्छर निरोधक क्रीम लगाएं
काफ़ी मात्रा में पानी पीएं
आराम करो
Wear protective clothing
Reduce mosquito habitat
Use mosquito repellent
Drink plenty of fluids such as water or drinks with added electrolytes to stay hydrated.

Take Rest. Rest as much as possible.

Don’t take IBOPRUFEN or ASPIRIN ( Reduce red blood cells)

For Fever and Pain: Take acetaminophen/paracetamol.

Warning Signs

Worsening abdominal pain ,  Ongoing vomiting,  Liver enlargement
Mucosal bleeding, High hematocrit with low platelets

Bleeding of any kind

Feeling tired, restless, or irritable

Fever above 105.

  • If you develop any warning signs, see a healthcare provider or go to the emergency room immediately.

  • Severe dengue is a medical emergency and requires immediate medical attention or hospitalization.

Facts About Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are cold-blooded and prefer temperatures over 80 degrees.

Only female mosquitoes bite people.

A mosquito can drink up to three times its weight in blood.

Mosquitoes spend almost first 10 days of their life in the water.

The average mosquito lifespan is less than two months (Male 10 days, Female 6-8 weeks).

Mosquitoes hibernate at temps less than 50 degrees, they shut down for the winter.

Mostly In fall, the mosquitoes mate and the males die. Only females spend the cold months hidden in protected places.

Female mosquitoes can lay up to 300 eggs at a time.

Aedes mosquito can hatch into a larva in less than a day or two.

The larva takes about four days to develop into a pupa.

Adult mosquito emerges from pupa after about 2 days.

3 days after consuming blood from human, mosquito can lay eggs.
