This festival is specifically meant for mothers who have sons. Mother’s keep fast on this day and this is celebrated in the month of October – November (Karthik Mas). Pure water is offered to stars during the evening time by the mothers and they pray for the long life of their sons.
Ahoi ashtami fasting day falls approximately 4 days after karwa chauth and 8 days before diwali puja.
करवा चौथ के ठीक चार दिन बाद अष्टमी तिथि ( कार्तिक कृष्ण अष्टमी ) को देवी अहोई माता का व्रत किया जाता है। यह व्रत पुत्र की लम्बी आयु और सुखमय जीवन की कामना के लिये किया जाता है | कुछ लोग इस पर्व को “अशोकाष्टमी’ अथवा “अवई आठें’ भी कहते हैं।
माताएं दिन भर उपवास रखती हैं और सायंकाल तारे दिखाई देने के समय होई का पूजन किया जाता है। अहोईमाता की पूजा करके उन्हें दूध-चावल का भोग लगाया जाता है।
